Set within Berlin’s historically layered city centre, the new development creates a civic ensemble together with the neighbouring Deutschlandhaus and Europahaus. At its base, a generously planted plaza anchors the complex, bridging past and present while offering a new civic threshold. The podium levels open westward to the city, introducing dining, childcare and conference facilities that extend public life into the building and animate the surrounding streets. This landscaped forum establishes a green link between the Martin-Gropius-Bau and the Anhalter Bahnhof, forming a multifunctional corridor where social interaction, shaded gathering and ecological resilience converge.

Above the podium, modular towers rise as adaptable, future-oriented workplaces. Interspersed with planted terraces and oriented around a central courtyard, they foster natural light, ventilation and visual connection across multiple levels. Workspaces are designed for flexibility, supporting a spectrum of collaborative and individual modes while encouraging interaction between different users. In its integration of heritage, public space and contemporary working environments, the project represents a new model of institutional campus – biophilic, permeable, and firmly rooted in its civic context. More than a collection of buildings, it is conceived as an open framework for urban life.
