DGNB gold "existing districts" for Plange Mühle Campus
Plange Mühle Campus is among the first seven projects worldwide to be certified under the new DGNB system for existing districts, introduced today at ExpoReal in Munich. This milestone marks a significant addition to how sustainability is practiced - a signal that progress lies not only in building anew, but in the intelligent transformation of what already stands.
Complementing the DGNB German Sustainable Building Council lframework for new projects, the "Bestandsquartiere" certification highlights reuse, adaptation and the reduction of embodied carbon. It recognises projects that retain existing fabric and character, while improving energy efficiency, occupant comfort and social value.
