The 'Certosa Island Competition' at M3 Monaco’s Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous is a forum dedicated to climate-conscious and socially responsible waterfronts. The case study brief called for a marina that integrates hospitality, cultural amenities, maritime services and heritage context within a framework that advances environmental performance and long-term adaptability.

Our winning concept organises all new functions along a „Smart Spine“, reducing land impact, ensuring resilience against rising waters and generating surplus renewable energy. Concentrating rather than expanding safeguards landscape and archaeology while creating a reversible, flexible framework for future use. The Spine also acts as an infrastructural backbone, integrating clean energy, logistics and circulation into one clear system that enables phased growth without compromising the island’s character.
